TOUR DAY 1

Today we head off early travelling the Great Northern Highway where morning tea is served at the mighty Fitzroy River before heading towards the historic town of Fitzroy Crossing with its original Inn constructed in 1897.
Then it’s on to Geikie Gorge National Park. Geikie Gorge was carved by flood waters of the Fitzroy River, the Bunuba people, being the traditional owners call this gorge ‘Darngku’. The limestone ranges formed from the ancient barrier reef expose fossils of reptiles and mammals.

Moon rising over the Oscar ranges imageView the towering cliffs of the Devonian reef, look our for aquatic life and waterbirds and search for the freshwater crocodiles during a 1 ½ hour guided boat tour. The experienced guides will give a comprehensive commentary on the geology, wildlife and history of this area.
Tonight we camp in the Oscar Ranges and enjoy a delicious homecooked meal served around the campfire before sleeping soundly in comfortable swags and insect proof tents under the Kimberley stars (upgrade to safari tents and camp stretchers optional).

TOUR DAY 2

This morning we pack up and leave our campsite in the Oscar Ranges and head to Tunnel Creek National Park. Here we venture into the entrance of Tunnel Creek and wade through the 750 metre cave system which has been carved by waters flowing through the limestone.

Tunnel Creek tours imgeThe billabong at the end of the tunnel is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Tunnel Creek known as the 'cave of bats' is home to red fruit bats, bent wing bats and the rare and endangered ghost bats. Hear the story of the Aboriginal freedom fighter ‘Jandamarra’ who used this Tunnel as a hide out in the late 1890's before his capture.

Travel the 36 kilometres east to Windjana Gorge National Park where we relax and enjoy a healthy gourmet lunch. Venture through the magnificent Windjana Gorge where the walls of this ancient barrier reef rise in height to 100 metres in some places and contain fossilised life forms. This huge gorge is full of freshwater crocodiles, many species of birdlife and home to a colony of fruit bats.

Now tackle the Gibb River Road towards Derby and visit the ancient Prison Boab Tree before heading back to Broome enjoying the stunning scenery along the way of unique Kimberley boab trees, birds, wildlife, cattle and an abundance of termite mounds.
